David Eagleman gave a TED talk in 2015 about creating new senses for humans. The idea being that while we can see, hear, smell and touch we only can do so in narrow ranges. He went on to create a kickstarter and a VEST product which can take any data stream and translate it into a vibrating sensation on the chest with the help of 32 -in motors. The applications are many, but some examples include stock market data, VR gaming, sound and infrared vision. Currently the company NeoSensory has been spun off to complete the VEST product.
