Researchers at ETH Zürich have been developing a 3D printed human heart made from soft materials. The entire heart is cast as a single part from one mold. Unfortunately, the current concept materials fall apart after a few thousand heartbeats during circulation tests. The goal is to match the human heart in form and function. The research has been published in the medical journal Artificial Organs.
