Futurism has a short summary video which explains what the human / animal embryo ban lifting encompasses. In 2016 the National Institute of Health announced intentions to lift the ban and opened up a 30-day public comment window. Researchers intend to create chimeras (human animal hybrids) to help model and find cures for human illnesses. The other planned use for chimeras is to grow human organs in animals for transplanting.
