Josiah Zayner has been suffering from stomach ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, bipolar disorder, skin and nasal issues. Being a player in the biohacking world he attempts to resolve his health issue through a rather extreme process of nuking his own bacteria and replacing it with that from a healthy donor.

This NYT piece focuses on Josiah’s background and fecal transplant process from Spring 2016. The Verge followed up with Zayner months after the fecal transplant when he was having mostly normal bowel movements and a new craving for sweets (which his donor has). This is a indicator that his fecal transplant was successful. The skin and nasal issues are left unresolved. I can understand the desperation that Josiah is coming from. He put thousands of dollars into working with proper MDs and wasn’t getting anywhere.

Obviously this is a radical and potentially dangerous approach to messing with ones health and should not be attempted without appropriate assistance.
