19Labs is preparing to release Gale a 4G cellular connected first-aid kit that hopes to assist end users through medical emergencies. This nicely integrated tablet and smooth white toolbox are equipped with modern sensors such as an EKG, stroke detector and electrocardiogram patches which can transmit to health professionals. Gale can even assist with snake bites through easy to understand step-by-step instructions.

When Ram Fish, former iPod Chief at Apple, was on vacation in a small town in Mexico with his family, and one of his daughters started having trouble breathing, he felt hopeless and scared because there were no medical clinics around to attend to his daughter’s needs. The experience got Fish thinking about a device that could improve patient outcomes for those that live far away from clinics. Fifteen months later, Fish had a startup called 19Labs and a product called the Gale—a clinic-in-a-box.
