Heptagon Acquires RF Digital Corporation (then ams AG gets both).
Heptagon (www.hptg.com), an industry leader in sensing, illumination and 3D imaging solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Devices, today announced it has acquired RF Digital Corporation, an expert designer and manufacturer of high performance, high quality wireless RF modules, including the RFduino and recently released Simblee, component-sized wireless module…
RF Digital (www.rfdigital.com and www.simblee.com) designs and manufactures an extensive line of fully integrated, high quality, high performance, configurable Wireless RF Transmitter, Receiver & Transceiver Modules, suitable for nearly every type of application. For over 16 years RF Digital has supplied the aerospace, public safety, industrial and medical industries with reliable wireless modules, accompanied by excellent support. For additional information on RFduino please visit – http://www.rfduino.com/
Ok, this happened last year and we didn’t notice until recently – a few things worth noting, none of the sites (Rf Digital, Simblee and RFDuino have had news updates since June/July of 2016 and the RFDuino library has a last updated date of 2015. Some of the sites say “Copyright 2015 RF Digital Corp. All Rights Reserved. Multiple Patents Pending.” The RFDuino Twitter account has one tweet from 2013. Looks like the forums are still active and have a few posts with the most activity being in the Simblee forum with 4 posts so far this month. The RF Digital Facebook was last updated in 2012.
HOWEVER, the company that acquired RF Digital, ALSO just got acquired! “Heptagon now member of the ams group“.
ams a leading worldwide supplier of high-performance sensor and analog solutions, announces the completion of the transaction to acquire 100% of the shares in Heptagon and the related capital increase of 11,011,281 new shares from authorized capital excluding subscription rights. ams announced on 24 October 2016 that the company had signed an agreement to acquire Heptagon.
So we then tried to look up the announcement on the ams site “http://ams.com/eng/Investor/Financial-News/Ad-hoc/Tuesday-24-January-2017” – and it gives a “Sorry, the page you are looking for cannot be found“.
Any way, unclear what’s ahead for the RF digital products now that it was acquired, then acquired – if you’re at RF digital / Simblee / RF Digital (or ams AG) – drop us a note and let us know!
