Assistive technologies are getting downright awesome. Last week we took a look at a smart watch that was using wrist gestures for menu navigation. Today the latest Hackaday Prize Entry for a Tongue Computer Interface is starting to empower users with a telekinesis like ability. Pallatte fits in your mouth like a sports bite guard and allows your tongue to operate as a bluetooth enabled mouse. This device uses infrared sensors and a mic to detect tongue movements and clicks. Want to build one? No problem, the kind folks at Pallette have opened the project and they provide clear instructions to roll your own. I was a little bummed out to see that the Bluegiga SDK and compiler they are using is Windows only. We have covered tongue controls before [1] [2], but pallette is offering a cleaner more advanced solution.
