This is not a repeat – The latest FTDI drivers via Windows update cause issues with fake chips. Users using Windows update get updated drivers all the time, with FTDI previously, a driver that said you have a counterfeit chip, this time, they’re sending noise that makes a counterfeit chip not work. The end result – “NON GENUINE DEVICE FOUND!”

FTDI stopped tweeting since this started and blocked the outrage-fest accounts. It’s interesting to watch FTDI go down this path again, there’s a lot of noise online, but does it do anything to sales? Maybe?
