Autodesk Creates $100 Million Fund for Internet-of-Things Startups – Venture Capital Dispatch – WSJ.

Autodesk Inc., whose 3-D design software is used in manufacturing, architecture, construction and entertainment, is launching a $100 million venture fund as part of a new effort called Forge.

August 2014 – “Autodesk to Acquire Internet-of-Things Company SeeControl“.
In October 2014, Autodesk launched a $100 million fund called the Spark Investment Fund to support 3-D printing.more (with mention of HP doing more in 3D printing in 2016).

Parallel to all this Autodesk has Spark“Spark is Autodesk’s open platform for connecting additive manufacturing.” (we used one here).

Ok, so Autodesk is investing and building up a portfolio of IoT and 3D printing with their software likely powering it as the goal, makes sense.
