Autodesk Inc., whose 3-D design software is used in manufacturing, architecture, construction and entertainment, is launching a $100 million venture fund as part of a new effort called Forge.

In October 2014, Autodesk launched a $100 million fund called the Spark Investment Fund to support 3-D printing. – more (with mention of HP doing more in 3D printing in 2016).

Parallel to all this Autodesk has Spark – “Spark is Autodesk’s open platform for connecting additive manufacturing.” (we used one here).

Ok, so Autodesk is investing and building up a portfolio of IoT and 3D printing with their software likely powering it as the goal, makes sense.
