Rick Mershad – President and CEO of Micro Electronics, Inc. Rick Mershad has worked closely with John Baker since joining the company in 1982 as an on-floor salesperson. His broad experience within the company and the computer industry, both in the U.S. and internationally, includes involvement with and a clear understanding of computer and electronics manufacturing, marketing, retail merchandising and management, and direct marketing.
Mershad ran several departments prior to being named Vice President in 1985. He was instrumental in the merchandising, physical design and implementation of Micro Center Stores’ departmentalized approach to selling computer products and services. He also developed and refined many of the core management philosophies used by Micro Center Stores today.
Mershad also selected and was responsible for developing most current Micro Center Store locations. He launched and managed the company’s successful PowerSpec desktop computer and WinBook portable computer brands.
As a member of the Micro Electronics Executive Committee, Mershad has been involved in all the functions of the corporation including Finance, Human Resources, MIS, Marketing and Operations. Mershad has used his extensive direct marketing experience to maintain and expand Micro Center Stores’ profitable customer segments.
Mershad has a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University with dual majors in Finance and Real Estate Management. Prior to joining Micro Electronics, his career was in commercial real estate sales and development.
