Limor Fried, the founder of New York City-based manufacturing plant and DIY platform Adafruit, has been going to Maker Faires since she was the company’s only employee. Now in charge of about 85 people and at the helm of a company that generated $33.2 million revenue last year, Fried — a.k.a. ‘Ladyada’ — still goes to those fairs hoping for a glimpse at what the hobbyists of today have in store for future mainstream consumers.
